Tsengelmaa (Tessa) Hoch

I have studied piano since the age of eight in conservatory settings and received my Masters with Honors in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy from the University of Arts and Culture in Mongolia.
My Masters thesis on Robert Schumann's Carnival Op. 9 is now part of the curriculum in music conservatories in Mongolia. My training was in the Russian method – which emphasizes a rigorous adherence to excellence.
My teachers were all graduates of prestigious Russian music academies, including the famous Gnesin Academy in Moscow.
I am a prize winning professional pianist and piano instructor with a genuine desire in developing and nurturing my students’ highest musical potential.
From 1994 through 2007 I took both 1st and 2nd Place at the J. Chuluun Young Pianist Competition, as well as 2nd prize at the N Jantsannorov Concert Masters Competition. In 2007 I was awarded Best Accompanist, 17th Annual International Competition, Traditional Musical Instruments Ulan-Ude, Russia.
I have over 10 years experience teaching a wide range of students from beginner to the most advanced, from children to professional musicians.
My students have placed highly in the Bangkok Yamaha Competition.
In 2010 one of my students was excepted to the prestigious Oberlin Music School.
I have a particular love for the younger student, and as mother myself understand their needs, concerns, and abilities to learn.
My experience also includes working  as a full time staff accompanist and musical coach at the University of Arts and Culture in Mongolia.
I have a long history of International performances, as well as accompanying work for professional musicians and orchestras, having performed in Russia, Mongolia, Thailand and the USA. Recently I accompanied members of the Thailand Philharmonic.
I believe children are very precious beings, and we have to deal with them very carefully - with love and understanding but with a clear method and direction for imparting excellence.
I want to instill in my students the same love for the piano that my teachers instilled in me. My soft-spoken demeanor, patience and understanding brings out the best in my students. My masters degree in Pedagogy has given me the skills and methods to asses each students' needs.
